HOSEBED™

For IT

What Hosebed needs from you, and what it does with your department's data. Short version: we host it, screens need only a browser, and nothing is visible without a sign-in or a paired screen.

Hosting

We run it

Hosebed is hosted for you over HTTPS, with updates, monitoring and backups handled by us. Each department's data is kept in its own database, separate from every other department's.

Support with your permission

When you ask for help, an administrator in your department grants us access for a set time. Every support session is recorded in your history like any other change.

Sign-in

Every plan

Editors sign in with an emailed sign-in link: no passwords to manage. Administrators invite people and give each a role that sets what they can change.

Single sign-on Premium

Sign in with your Microsoft 365 accounts. People who leave your tenant lose access with it. Guest accounts are refused unless you allow them.

Wall screens

What to buyAny TV with a computer that runs a full-screen browser: a kiosk PC, a Raspberry Pi, a smart TV's browser, or an interactive touchscreen.
PairingThe screen shows a one-time code; an editor enters it in Displays. The screen then holds a long, revocable key in its browser. Revoke it and the screen stops showing the board.
Station onlyOptionally, only screens at your station's public IP addresses may pair, and the editor flags a screen seen anywhere else.
NetworkOutbound HTTPS only. Screens check for changes every 20 seconds and use very little data when nothing has changed.
When the network dropsThe screen keeps showing the last board, turns its status bar red and says when it last heard from us.

Data

Who can see itOnly signed-in editors and paired screens. Boards hold gate codes and phone numbers, so nothing is public.
HistoryEvery change is kept with who made it and when, including changes made at a touchscreen with a PIN.
PINsStored only as a keyed hash. Five wrong tries lock that screen for 10 minutes.
UploadsPosters and PDFs are stored outside the web and served only to editors and paired screens.
Outside sourcesWeather from weather.gov, tides from NOAA, flag status from your state's notices; calendars and spreadsheets only from addresses you add.
